DIRECTIONS TO THE VILLA.
From Merida airport: (About 40 minute drive).
At it’s only EXIT, turn left at the airport exit traffic light. After about one km, take the right entrance towards Progreso, onto the “Periferico” east. (Note, the Periferico is an outer ring road around Merida).
After approximately 17 kilometers on the Periferico, follow the signs to, and exit north, towards the town of PROGRESO.
( From Merida:)
Proceed north to PROGRESO on a 4 lane highway for about 25 km.
At night, you will see the beam from Progreso lighthouse straight ahead, sweeping overhead anti clockwise, when you are about 5 km from Progreso.
After crossing a low concrete bridge, with several rows of speed bumps on the bridge prior to the next intersection, you will be on the outskirts of PROGRESO. NOTE!! As a reference, there is a Pemco gas station on the right across this intersection. Turn right at this intersection. There is one speed ramp at about 50 yards.
Road sign indicates CHICXULUB 10km and Telchac 37km. Proceed towards Telchac on this 2 lane beach highway. Km number marker signs are on the right. (Do not follow the left turn signs to Chicxulub PTO at 7 and 9km.) but stay on the highway and go to the 10 km sign on the highway toward Telchac.
Having now traveled 10km after turning right at the Pemco gas station, you will be at overhead flashing yellow lights, indicating a speed bump, and a concrete police station (#3) building on the right. The police building is usually illuminated with a fluorescent light at night, and it is the only brightly lit building on the right side of the road at 10km beyond the bridge.
Go past the flashing lights (about 200yards), to the 3rd dirt road on the left. You will see an unlit turquoise colored, rectangular, 5 foot high concrete sign on the left side of the (2) lane highway. This colored concrete block sign has “CASTILLO NICTE HA” impressed in it. (See the photo section for a picture of the sign).
There is also an adjacent and similar white concrete block sign that reads “MONKY’S”, with a painted monkey face on it. Turn left at these signs on to a sandy lane. Proceed about 200 yards to the 1st overhead yellow street light and turn left. Castillo Nicte-Ha Villa is 1st on the right with its name above the garage entrance.
Castillo Nicte-Ha Villa is the tallest and only white three story building. The care-takers residence is at the rear of the house. They are on site 24/7 and will help in anyway needed. They will have keys for you.
Arrangement can also be made to pick you up or guide you from Merida Airport, for a small fee and flight information.
